About Naas General Hospital

Naas General Hospital serves the catchment area of Kildare and West Wicklow, an area with rapidly growing population. The hospital currently has 243 patient scheduled care beds which include 18 day service beds and a 24-hour Emergency Department.
A Business Intelligence platform was needed to bring cross-hospital performance visibility to unscheduled and pathways, allowing NGH to see the full picture, allocate resources effectively and drive operational efficiency.

The Challenge

NGH were unable to make informed operational decisions with the information they had access to. Challenges included:

  • Multiple disparate hospital systems including PAS, ED, Casemix Coding and theatre systems – all with manual data collection requirements
  • A lot of data, no data warehouse, limited information and performance insight, poor management reporting capability
  • Limited IT resources and BI expertise.
